Pro’s & Con’s
There are pro’s and con’s to the various applications, and to using this method of preparing and submitting blog posts.
The major advantage of this method is that you are writing the article on your own computer using a local application. That means you do not need (should not need) an Internet connection while preparing it and do not have to deal with the vagaries of using an editor embedded in a web page. Additionally, you can usually keep a copy of your blog posts locally on your personal computer.
The major disadvantage, for a bridge blogger, is that you do not have access to the Bridge Tools you can use if you create your post using the WordPress visual editor (with the Bridge Tools plugin created for BridgeBlogging.com). For some of you, that may be a deal-breaker. There are ways around some of the issues of creating hand layouts and inserting BBO Bridge Viewer movies, but they are “workarounds”. These are discussed as a separate topic (Handling Bridge Diagrams and Suit Symbols).
